Whales October 26   Leave a comment

Back from my African trip I was eager to get back out and see the whales. Early in the week, there was many pods of whales but none of them putting on a great show. One has to understand, they haven’t feed for 5 months and are eager to return to Antarctica where the krill are waiting to be consumed in large numbers.
However, today, they didn’t disappoint. We spent an hour and a half searching the horizon for whales, thinking we were not going to see any this day, we came upon a very playful pod of 6 mature whales. One of which I know was a female because she was very obliging and rolled on her back in front of the boat, bearing all to those on board. It was a short encounter but a memorable one.
